OCPS recognized Thornebrooke for being one of the few OCPS schools that participated in the OCPS Chess Tournament for the last four years. Schools promoting participation in Chess Clubs is part of the OCPS Smart is Cool initiative. Students from Thornebrooke can join the Chess Club and participate in the county tournaments. TES has historically represented well with trophies at the events.
